Motor Setups & Kits...Alpha has (since 1988) been one of the few companies to design and build high performance slot car motors with samarium cobalt magnets. Our motors have won thousands of races, and have been highly successful in each of the cobalt motor categories (Cobalt 12, Group 27, & Group 7). The setups are designed to be fast, rugged, and trouble free. The finest components and materials, combined with professional design and construction are what you will find in any Alpha setup.Only a few of the most popular setups are listed here. With different combinations of cans, endbells, hardware, magnets and bearings, we can literally make hundreds of different motors… far to many to keep around in stock… even too many to list here. We have selected a few of the most popular combinations (19 setups) for the catalog. But all of our setups are built to order and we will build a setup with any workable combination of parts you specify. If you can imagine it, we can probably make it for you. (Dealers please note that blueprinted setups are subject to less than standard discount) All of the setups listed here are professionally assembled and feature honed air gaps… previously available only from custom builders … built to order one at a time with professional craftsmanship and pride. | COBALT
12 SETUP - Blueprinted Formula-2000 legal, this setup uses the new TS2000C12 single magnets. (.450 tall, .360 long, flat top) Combined with the Cahoza can/endbell, with horizontal brush hoods, the magnets are precision honed to a .503 air gap to accept armatures of .490 diameter and approximately .860 in length. This setup is fast rugged and lightweight with full can protection over the magnets. It can also be ordered with an extra timing endbell with the brush hoods tilted 4 degrees. This plus timing endbell gives exactly the same effect as increasing the commutator timing of the armature 4 degrees... more RPM, a little bit less torque (may run warmer). When the timing of you armatures seems a bit too low, this extra timing endbell is the answer! Kit includes all the parts to assemble you own motor. |

Fully blueprinted, the magnets are honed to a .503 air gap. Fits .490 diameter group 27 arms.
