Alpha Race Tires have been the industry leaders for over a decade. It's no surprise because our on track testing has lead to a superior design, lighter weight, and better handling. Our tires are crafted in our shop to insure stronger threads, better fit on the axle, more accurately machined rims, and the truest grind in slot racing. BIG FULL HUB WONDER QUALIFYING TIRE - $12.99 per pair
These tires feature our big full hubs comprehensively lightened with 9 holes each. Then we mount and grind selected medium hardness wonder rubber to produce tires with terrific bite and light weight. Our hollow set screws are used for better balance and minimum weight. These tires have proved to be excellent for qualifying in glue. Jari Portinen used these tires when he set the World King Track Qualifying Record of 1.548 seconds in Kouvolan Finland, March,  2004. They are also perfect for spray glue racing (Gp 27 & 7) where a lot of grip is needed. Alpha has a proprietary process of chemically treating the rubber to alter it's characteristics. The treated Piranha rubber is a bit firmer, and has a bit less grip. But it also is longer wearing  and because it has less rolling resistance, is faster on the straight-aways and in the bankings. Try it if the regular Piranhas seem a bit too soft and grippy. Our Professional tire line uses the synthetic rubber compounds available in a variety of colors. We have developed a method to alter the properties of the rubber, increasing the firmness, while still providing outstanding grip. While the "Wonder Rubber" tires have become the favorite for wing car glue racing, some racers continue to have success with the colored (synthetic) rubber. Professional tires feature super light, high quality magnesium rims and hollow set screws for lighter weight and better balance.
